Well, it was time to update some of this, since 16 March have spent quite a few things: I've moved house, I have gone back to Paramaribo, I spent two weeks in Brazil April 30 and ended my contract.
I changed my home because I basically threw the other half, now live with some friends from my former roommate: Pauline and Solen, pestles and I are super happy live here, also lives with us a guy who is an engineer, but that does not speak much and rarely sees him.
Below we live some Dominicans are good people but sometimes put too much hehe bachata and surinamense is also very nice.
As for the weekend in Paramaribo, was cool, we were an issue of 8, ate well, did shopping and won enough money at the casino for me to leave the weekend free. I said long ago wrote a post about Paramaribo and I have not yet, but sooner or later write, because the city is worth.
I recommend Give to play in this video from youtube to put you in the spirit of Brazil with some horrific at the same time sympathetic Brega:
The 2 nd trip to Brazil was during the Easter holidays, was an issue of 5, 4 employees and a German girl who came with us. This time we went to Macapa and Belem, Macapa spent 4 relaxing days without eating and drinking do much, slept in a real den of ill repute which cost us about 3 € a night, but had an air conditioning industry. A Belem went by plane and returned boat, it's a billet Belem city of 1,500,000 inhabitants. In some ways it reminded me a bit to Alicante by the fact of being a port city (though the city gives to the Amazon and not the sea) and dirty. Must see in Belem: palaces Portuguese colonial times, a church, or
No Deposit, especially market Ver-o-peso (put picture) which is really nice, cheap and picturesque. The market area was proposed as a World Heritage Site, but ultimately did not take the title.
then have also restored some of the old docks this has been a facelift for the city, in the old docks are several restaurants and shops and over all a kind of promenade (imagine that when the ride is next to a river called the river walk, but I hit a lot) The truth is that poverty sharp contrast with that seen in other parts of the city.
the evening looking for a place to go find a place we were playing billiards and snooker, billiards Brazilians are small and have small holes, besides the Brazilians play with strange rules. We met some Brazilians (and Brazilian) and played pool with them. They really are very friendly and welcoming Brazilians.
The next day we went to the Cotijuba Island, on the recommendation of a very nice girl I met on the trip. And the truth is that it is a paradise that is only one hour by boat from Belem, huge white sand beaches and a surprisingly transparent Amazonas (on my pictures). On the island there are no cars, just horses and a tractorbus. The island is far from tourist exploitation and glad to be there, but it seems that the weekend itself is quite busy. As in Brazil, is still very cheap to eat and sleep.
spent a day and a half in island and saw a sloth and a toucan, which I did pretty illusion.
A return to Belem we met David, a friend of St. Laurent and we went back those billiards with him. The trip back did Macapá boat. In the port terminal sent us the wrong queue for boarding, so we climbed the last the ship, and why it is important to go before the boat? Because the trip is done in a hammock and the sooner the better get on the boat in place you can put your hammock, so as we climbed in the past, we are in the jungle of hammocks, but finally hung the hammock as humanly could. I said to myself, "che is not so bad because the site I caught" then I realized why no one had put his hammock there, because it was above the engine room and the noise and the heat was quite unbearable . To top it gave me a guy with his hammock in parallel to mine, your hammock overlooking the hall, so that blocked the way and every time I moved, I moved by domino effect to me. The good news is that the trip only lasted 26 hours ... so getting back in the hammock was a little hell, spent in the bar above cover a large part of the trip, drinking beer and listening to hard work, hard work and more struggle (struggle music is a pain in the ass in Brazil it seems that they are only versions of popular songs chungas) There we met another Frenchman and Brazilian s.
Boat Another curious thing was the water-shower, imagine the typical mini toilet, where it is only a water (1.5 m2 roll) so there, in the same space, had a shower in the ceiling , a great example of space utilization. I was also surprised to see that the passengers thrown into the river bags with food and clothing for people in the river, and they come in canoes to collect them.
The trip takes a little heavy, but as everyone says, make it at least once.
spent 2 days in Macapá, David, Saint Laurent was fatal with gastroenteritis and got me a day late, I think it's for the food we ate on the boat. Saint Laurent decided to go back to 4x4 instead of bus to save some time. But it was a bad idea, since we were 6 guys in 5 places and it took 9 hours, about the same it takes the bus. Then when we come to Guyana, Saint Georges taxico had to go to Cayenne so we had to sleep there.
In short, Brazil is "muito gostoso" very friendly Brazilians, and it is certainly a country to be visited once in a lifetime.
And I'm doing something to cheat because I'm writing this from Spain, for over a month since my return from Guiana, and although I miss, I do not expect back if not on vacation. Anyway wanted to thank all who have been following the blog, your comments and emails. I will not close or leave the blog, I love Guyana and I still have many things to tell. I also hope that it will help anyone who wants to go to Guyana, since there is not much information about it. So if you want to know something about Guyana not hesitate to contact me.
