Requirements For Pldt Diconnection

Why am I here? Holidays in Brazil

Many who follow my blog I ask that what I do here in French Guiana, and the truth is that the post I put that are the majority to have my vacation, can give the impression that I'm always on vacation, but no, no, I have a job: I am English assistant what is a English assistant? English As an assistant working with high school English teacher, in theory we have to work with half the class, maximum 15 students what do we do? As our mission is to make students speak in English and teach them things in our culture. We work 12 hours per week and not pay us anything bad for the hours we work. The truth is that few hours and have much free time, but otherwise, I assure you that depending on the group of students to tap the hours you can be more or less stressful. what how I ended up here? Well after asking to be 8 months unsuccessfully looking for work scholarships and one morning someone from France called me and asked if I wanted to go to French Guiana to work as an assistant in English, having nothing better to do I decided to come here and, for the moment, although I have been both good and bad, I do not regret having come to nothing, moreover, is an experience I recommend to anyone wanting to adventure and gain experience as a teacher.

The particular program for which I am here called "assistants" and requested through the Ministry of Education requirements vary by country, as requested, the main one being English, then the Most countries call for linguists, translators and teachers of primary foreign language. In my case, France and Belgium allowed CAP graduates with evidence that they know the language of the country. Not many people who want to come to Guyana as an assistant, in fact we are only 3 attendees English in Guiana and missing all filled, so if you ask to come here, you can probably get a job. Yo, is likely to renew my contract.

What are the students?

Depends on the city where you are is quite different origin of the students in predominantly Cayenne Creoles and the Brazilians, in Saint Laurent my students are 99% bushinenges and Amerindians Kourou and because there is a little bit of everything and whiter than elsewhere.

usually behave well and respect the teacher, although quite disruptive, but also fun, participatory and silly. Including whether they are more ill, especially among bushinenge see that there are more fights. The Amerindians are quieter, but the ethnic divide that prevails in Guyana is still present in the classroom, the relationship between bushinenge something cold and Amerindians. Interestingly the majority of Amerindians speak taki taki (language of bushinenge), but do not speak Amerindian languages \u200b\u200bbushinenge. The episodes of violence are common among students, and also tell me that there's even a drinking problem. Last year, without going any further, a theft of a mobile from one student to another (a bushinenge and other Amerindian) ended in a brawl with one student dead.

In total I have about 500 students, so each 2 by 3 I'm a student down the street or hear Holaaaaaaa or Good morning. The biggest difficulty that I find the time to teach is that attendees have to talk all the time in English, although sometimes inevitably speak in French for the class to move forward, because they get tired of making the effort try to understand you and your trying to explain. In addition to their French is not their native language, so that many have not mastered well and have many faults (me too).

How is education in French Guiana?

One of the institutes where the work is the one with the lowest average score from all over France, school failure is high in general, I believe that due to several factors: first, their cultures do not perceive going to school as important, what many parents do not value the education you receive your child and make them work when they return home. Secondly there are a large number of early pregnancies. If you already by itself, both bushinenges as Amerindians, often have a large number of children, social aid for each child gives France are having children becomes a job for many, this, coupled with early pregnancy causes many pupils lose interest in going to college and devote themselves to having children. To give you an idea, Saint Laurent has the highest birthrate of Europa.Y thirdly because there is a lack of both resources and staff and most teachers have temporary contracts. Efforts are made to improve the situation of education in Guyana, but appear to be insufficient.

Anyway, little by little, within 2 or three generations think the situation will change a lot, because most students perceived increasingly as important, the fact of receiving an education, and this is something to transmit to their children. The truth is that even in the "worst" Institute of France has very valid points that I hope students get to find the motivation to continue studying, as one of the main problems of Guyana Guyanese is the lack of studies, and this is for me indispensable for a mature society, because society francoguayanesa is, right now, immature, and divided society, with little fellowship among its ethnic groups. But all this has to change little by little, and that education plays an important role. So while you're here I hope to contribute my bit to improve on what education can and that my presence here will serve the students to improve in something, at least in English.

Forgive the "rollaco" I've released, but there are things that happen here that you really angry (and continue complaining)
